A long day in taipei.
Yesterday i woke up at 9am, and found a blonde greeting me, good morning. And from there we started to have a normal conversation, asking each other where we were from and what we came for, and things like that. She is from England and was working odd jobs in Australia for 8 months before heading to Canada then Mexico and back to Australia. Reason why she got in taiwan has got something to do with the airline screwing up somewhere and had to make a stopover for her here. Anyway, we chatted and decided to have breakfast together, since i'm still not sure where i wanna go. After breakfast, she invited me to visit the hotsprings but i rejected because i was lazy to look for a swimming trunk. So i suggested the zoo, and off we went. Since Metro is the easier and cheaper option. we practically took it everytime we wanna go somewhere. The zoo is located at the brown line of the Metro. Taipei Zoo is the name of the station. We got off the station and went the wrong direction and found ourselves looking at the Gondola ride. Its actually cable cars. But some countries call them Gondola. The ride is 170bucks i think. And it takes you up the mountains then from there you can have a walk around it. Seems boring to me. So we backtrack to the other direction. Entrance fee is so cheap i nearly cried. Lol. $60 for adults and $30 for kids and family with low incomes. $60TWD is like less than 3singapore dollars. The weather was getting on my nerve and i had the urge to buy an umbrella from the vendor outside the zoo. They also sell lunchbox meals for just $70. When we got in, we took the mini train up to the top of the zoo, rides cost $5TWD a trip. On the way up, Louise, the blonde, keep pointing out the animals she saw. But i only saw trees and trees.. >.< After a while i gave up looking for it and said i paid to look at the trees.. The zoo is built in such a way that as long as u keep left, you can walk all the way down and will have seen all the animals. So you don't actually have to go different directions to see different species. Easy route. After finishing the zoo, it started to rain. So we took the Metro to Taipei City Hall, in search of Taipei 101. After reaching the station, you can choose to walk there or take the shuttle bus. We asked the people there, and they were very friendly in giving out directions. Almost everyone of them is extremely friendly. Since it was raining, it was obvious we had to take the shuttle bus. Once reaching there, we went to the basement for some late lunch at the very big foodcourt. Food there is not to my liking. Maybe i got the wrong one. After eating, we went back up to have a walk. And thats when i found out. Taipei 101 is not a youngster paradise. Every shop is high end fashion. Sianz!!! So we went up straight to the place where you book tickets for the observation deck. The ticket cost about $400TWD and since it was still raining we thought it won't be worth it either. We won't get to see much with the heavy rain.
Back to the hostel we went, had a shower and changed into clean clothes. Surf the net and checked for great nightspots. I found out that most pubs, clubs or bars charge around $200TWD for a drink. So i googled and typed all-you-can-drink clubs. It led me to Club W, it was known as Club Wax-. The place is located near Guting station, quite close to where im staying. When we got there, we decided to have some dinner at the famous roosevelt market. I forgot the chinese name. It is a location where you will find lots of hip clothes and great food. The hawkers are very very friendly too. After dinner we headed back to Club W. If you're taking the train, the exit you should get off is exit 5. Exact location is B1, 67 roosevelt road. Sec 2. When we got there. The bouncer says they only let in customers at 9.30pm. We reached about 9.25pm. Anyway, since our stomach is still full and we didn't wanna drink so early, we went to the MacDonald's to chill. Went back at 10pm. And we were still the first customer >.< The entrance fee is very simple. $500 for guys, $100 for gals. And if you show your foreigner passport like i did, you get a cheaper price. I got in for only $350TWD. haha. Thats less than $15 for a whole day of drinking. Crowds starts coming in and by 11.30pm. Its almost packed. All kind of people you get in there. Taipei youngsters, expatriate and all. I was chilling out with Louise until the very friendly waiter came and asked if some customers could share our table. So i found myself looking at one guy and 2 gals. The guy was very chirpy and friendly, like he was high on drugs. He's Chris and from Canada. And there's Mariel from Philipines and our dear Eun Sun, by the name you should know she is from Korea. So we have an international table. 5 people from 5 countries. Chris has been in Taipei for 2 years, teaching english is cram schools and earning good. He earns about $90k TWD a month. Look at the daily expenses and you will know he is living a very comfortable life here. Mariel has been here for 2 weeks, and will be staying for another 2 and 1/2 months to learn mandarin. While Eun Sun has been here for 1 and 1/2 months. Will be staying 2 years to learn some arts i think. Though we chat alot, we have problem understanding each other, cause her mandarin skills are only 1 1/2 months old. After chatting awhile i give up. And she asked me to add her in msn. I simply sucks in typing chinese, i dono how we're going to communicate.. She keep asking me to dance, but i told her 1am, 1am. haha.. Anyway, she is pretty good looking, and some parts of her character reminds me of my ex. I was telling Chris about how i was going to go Club Luxy but ended up here. The entrance for Club Luxy is $800TWD for guys. Ladies night for gals on wednesday. Only entitled to one free drink. So i have to choose the much cheaper option of Club W. It's small but the service is great and so are the patrons. You can have 2 pint of heineken for $150 at Club Luxy though. He says Club Luxy is definitely better, but once a month in Club W, you can catch their own Wet T-shirts contest. O.O" I left at around 2.30am, and i had quite a few drinks. Blue Hawaii, Tequila Sunrise, Bourbon Coke, Singapore Sling, Coors light( a US beer i think, only 4% alcohol), and 2 Kahlua milk. It tastes smooth and nice, so i had 2 of those. Taxi ride home, was cheap. Actually writes $120TWD on the meter, but he asked for $140TWD so i guess the midnight charge is an extra $20? Ok, i gotta go out and explore more! Meanwhile God Bless!
