Results of the audition
There past few days, i wasn't really busy, yes, busy buying clothes for my online blogshop thats selling very nice and fashionable guy's t-shirts. But not so busy that i don't have time to blog or something, in fact, i had nothing to do last night and went to play DOTA till 12pm today.. GosH! When will i ever learn. =D SiaOLiaO, i miss playing it together. LOL. Ok, so what had happened? I went to buy some clothes for the blogshop and been going around Taipei with my new room-mate. No, not a gal, a 23 yr old guy from the US of A, Mike is his name. Very friendly and easy-going chap. Unlike the other guy from Holland, whom i went clubbing with, Peter. Peter was always whining about wanting to eat his crossaints. Is it spelled this way? Anyway, he doesn't like chinese food and thinks it is so dirty and "fu*king sucks" ( his exact words ). So after that day, i didn't bother to go out with him anymore. Image a 21 yr old western guy, acting like a kid, saying i want crossaints, i want crossaints. Irritating and immmature.. >.<" 3 afternoons ago, my phone rang, and woke me up from my sleep. I looked at the caller id and it shows like 10 numbers. I answered it and this girl on the line, asked me if i am 黎辉丰, i said ya. She said she was calling from 星光大道, asked me a few more questions and said my audition will be held the following day, which was 2 days ago. And so i decided to sing the song made famous by me in Plush Bar. Haha. You guess right! 最长的电影! lol. The office of the so called 星光大道, isn't big and glamourous, if that is what you were thinking. There were fellow contestants like me, who had queued up at the actual day, and didn't get the chance to sing. I'm not sure if they auditioned everyone who wasn't given a chance though. Some others had sent their forms by snail mail ( yes, only snail mail, email cannot! ). I reached early, like 3.15pm, and they asked me to go and have a walk.. The sun was like the hottest ever since i was here. So i had to go for a "walk" for 15 mins, cause the audition starts at 3.30pm. When i got back, she was really on time and led me, 1 gal and another guy, into this small waiting room. The gal was the first to be led to the audition room, which was a very small room actually, her vocals were quite opera-like. Maybe they would take her, cause it is unique. Who knows. After her, was the guy, can't remember what song they sang. But this guy was mediocre. No attraction or impact on me. Then other contestants started to fill in the small waiting room. >.< And it was my turn. The so-called audition room has a small backdrop, and infront of you is the lady, holding her camera, and she will ask you to stand infront of the backdrop and introduce yourself. I was very nervous and when she asked me to smile to the camera. My face kinda cramped! lol. I had on the fakest smile i ever produced in my life. Kinda lop-sided and twitching a little. haha. I don't really feel any pressure singing on a stage with audience. But somehow, when i come to an enclosed area, I always feel uncomfortable and stress. Heart was beating quite fast, so i had some very natural "dou ying" and breathing was in short and insufficient breathes. Sang the first song, "the longest movie" and another admin, came and looked through the glass door. Maybe cause my singing was horrible and everyone in the office were thinking who the hell is wasting our time with the audition.. There is no sound proof door or walls. Everyone can hear you sing very very clearly.. Thats another reason why i was so nervous. She asked for a second song, in any language, and cause my voice was kinda hoarse, i decided to skip all the Gary Cao songs and ballads. No, i know i have lots of excuses for not singing properly.. But its real. I drank quite a lot of their tap water unintentionally.. When i was in the hostel, few days back, i refilled my bottle with the already boiled warm water. It was too warm so i decided to add in tap water to reduce the temperature.. The more i drank, the more my throat gets dry.. I forgot that you can't drink their tap water at all, cause they are totally unprocessed.. So, too bad.. Anyway, i decided to sing 愛是懷疑 by Eason Chan. Fast song doesn't matter if you sounds like shit, as long as the groove and pitch is correct, its ok. I actually planned to do a bit of simple beatbox before i sing, but ended up skipping it and going straight for the chorus.. I mean im a totally noob in beatboxing and i only learnt it from youtube like the other day. And since, the workers in the office can hear me clearly, i had to skip that.. Overall, i think i suck. But who knows.. I thought i suck when i went for the Impresario audition and even told Felix ( who is a nice soul, for accompanying me over ) that i sounded like Ah Du singing An Jing, and didn't expect to hear from them again. But they did contact me for the semi finals. Lol. I have high expectations for myself when it comes to singing, most of the time, i think i suck.. >.<" Thats how you get better..
And actually before the audition, i woke up early go out and find some place to warm up my vocals and practise my beatbox.. Since it was near, Mr Sun Yat-Sen Memorial, i went to the park to do my warming up. After warming up for quite sometime, and feeling my throat going too dry, cause of the dry atmosphere, i went to the air-conditioned memorial building. This is what i saw.

Around the whole building, there are youngsters learning and practising their hip Hip Yoyo dance. It is indeed a big hobby in Taiwan.

I saw this in an underground metro link. It has become a common sight, nothing to be surprised about. After my audition, i went back to the hostel for a shower. It was so so hot, that Mike, who went to Danshui and was going to take the ferry to Bali Island, came back after going out for only 4 hours. So we decided to slack in the hostel till the evening and went out for our dinner and some shopping.

Again, like every night in Ximending, there is something to see. Different people busking.. The mysterious piper, and the puppet guy making the puppet dance to retro music.. Mike is unlike most, western people. He went to Singapore before he came here, and the few days he was there, he had durians everyday.. Loves the smell of it, and when he came here, i brought him to a store in Ximending that sells Smelly Tofu.

He loves it. Again, every night he would find some to eat.. This delicacies are suppose to smell funny to them. And he is your typical western guy. Blond hair and blue eyes. I don't think i will like their food though. Imagine red beans with beef.. I caan't imagine how they eat that.. Beans are like desserts to us, and they have it with their meat.. No thanks.. Since he wanted to buy cheap shoes, we headed down to Shilin Nightmarket. They sell cheap branded shoes. Like less than S$50 for a pair of Adidas or Nike. They don't seem to sell fake brands around here. I asked around and seems to get the same reply. Dono where it is. We walked around and came to this food stall ( not those street stalls, but actuall foodstalls ) and these 2 young guys, trying to be funny, waved at us and said in english, "Hey hey, come and try our food man, yo yo!"
Obviously, they were trying to be funny, so i went up to their stall, looked at their food display and replied in english, "Do you have your mum's fried pussy inside out with some mayo"? They looked at each other and before they can reply, i said, "Nah, don't think you have it, thanks". Mike was trying so hard not to laugh at their dumb-fu*ked expression. We walked down the streets somemore and saw the 2 new korean gals from our hostel. They said hi, and we said bye. The first day they came, Mike and i was sitting in the kitchen, watching some tv shows and they came in with their beers and instant korean instant noodles. So i asked if they were korean, they asked how did i know. I said, all the koreans i see, like to drink beer. I have seen quite a number of koreans in the hostel and all of them, even the nerdy looking ones drink it everyday. Especially during dinner time. It is definitely a culture for them to drink it. This other korean guy in my room, nerdy looking too. Had 3 brands of beer on his bedside. >.<"
Anyway, back to Shilin NightMarket. We were tired from walking and the afternoon sun having drained all my energy, made me wanna go back and rest. So we headed to the Metro. I went to the toilet and when i came out, this 2 kids aged around 12yrs old, walked up to Mike and said, our english teacher wants us to talk to westerners so that we can improve our english. So Mike was like, "Ok, what do you wanna talk about? They replied, "No talk, just sign. We just need your signature to show that we spoke to westerners". And the whole list of names on the paper were english names. Lol. They were really cute and funny. We reached Ximen Station again, and i, being sick and tired of the food in that area, decided to try their instant food from the famous "7-11, never close, always open", thats their slogan here, by the way. I tried their "liang mian" those noodles, though in the semi freezer, don't need to warm it up in microwave oven type. And the Pi Dan Ji Si porridge.

The noodle is cheap, costing only NT$37 and the porridge, NT$ 48. The noodle tastes good, but i wasn't used to eating cold noodles, and the porridge was pretty good. Except that Mr Jaws kept looking at me, and wanting to snatch it away from me..

Continued watching tv programmes in the kitchen and saw this variety show about transforming "zai nan" geeks, with some makeover. The show is hosted by Patty Hou ( Jay Chou's famous ex ) and 2 other pretty celebrity. Geek no. 1 has a girlfriend and it was his girlfriend that submitted his name for the makeover. So they were talking and joking about how he can just stay home for a whole week, without stepping out of the house and play computer games. Even when his girlfriend goes over, he would just play and not bother with her even when she asks him to go out or simple things like buying food with her. Lol. Poor girlfriend. And the way he dress was like untidy and dirty. And the girlfriend doesn't look ugly, in fact, she looks like she could probably get a much better boyfriend than him. So the host asked her, why didn't she leave him and get on with another guy. She says she doesn't believe in giving up so easily. So sweet!~ And of course, she was lazy to start another relationship. Haha. Geek 2, looks good without the makeover, same problem, stays home for 2 weeks without having to step out of the house. His meals are bought by his parents and they sent it to his face, he eats it, they clear it. Lol. No, he's not paralyse or something. He is busy playing his computer game. And guess what? He looks Hello Kitty and pink.. OMg! So his elder brother decided to submit his name. And when they asked his brother to go on his stage with him. They thought that maybe his bro needed the makeover just as badly as he does. LOL! Geek 3, same old story, doesn't mind not going out. Only go to the movies with his friends twice a year, and its almost impossible to ask him out. His sister submitted his name. But the one who went on stage with him was his close platronic girlfriend. They had known each other since secondary school, and have been close friends ever since. The show ended with Geek 1 being the winner. There were no losers though. Geek 2 was very happy with his makeover, and Geek 3? When the show was about to end, they asked him since he and his "girlfriend" was so close, why are they not together? He replied that "it's not up to me to decide". So the host asked the girl, "do you want him to be your boyfriend?" She nods her head shyly and smiled. What a nice scene to behold! I'm such a sucker for romantic moments. Lol. And they looked so good together anyway. Ok, enough of my crap. =] Wish everyone here, a happy day. Yes, only for today. =D
PS: Ivan, im fine over here, sms is expensive. HAha. And no, i don't wanna take part in WCG, cause i'm a fu*king noob now, and don't enjoy losing, even if its for fun. =D
