What a competition it was~
HAha, this is definitely my worse competition experience to date. In terms of the stupid money wasting voting system. And the many filler acts in between. And the random judges that is probably judging for the first time.. And whose performance are really pretty much the standard of normal contestants.
Ok, I'm being a sore loser. Haha. I only had 2 days to practise and memorise the lyrics. Which is actually something i'm really bad at. Which is also the reason i got booted out of Singapore Idol 3 for.. Lack of sleep + bad memory = booted out of the bootcamp when they were narrowing down Top50 to Top24. So close and yet so far.
Ok, let's not get sidetracked here. HAha. So yeah, i had things to do in between the 2 days of practising the song, 王妃 by Jam Hsiao. So in all, i didn't really had 2 days, maybe slightly more than 1 day? It's been so long since i got nervous during a competition. Awwman~ The feeling is just horrible, running the lyrics through my mind repeatedly did not help me one bit. So in the end, i went up on stage and just tried to sing the song without doing much actions or having much stage presence. Cause I was running the lyrics through my mind while trying to sing it. HAha. I forgot quite abit of lyrics and filled it with random words. Got to the end of the song, was going to end it with a high pitch kinda scream, something higher pitch than what Jam Hsiao did in his original song. But just when i was going to do that, the feedback monitor went blank, all i heard was the sound of the music blasting without my vocals. My voice wavered and because i couldn't hear my voice and i ain't familiar with the song.. I ended the note way too flat, so flat that i wanted to jump off the stage right after i ended it. Wahaha. Omg!~ My most embarrassing stage moment..
So many of my friends came to support me, in the end, i had to show them such a sucky performance.. Zzz. Anyway, the sound system is pretty screwed up. Alot of feedback problems were encountered. And they were supposingly late for their set up too.. We're suppose to arrive at 2:30pm for sound check, and when i arrived at 2:30pm, they were just barely starting to set up the sound systems.. Which took them an hour plus to do so..
And came the power of the votes. HAha. Which is like saying, who's got the richer family member and friends, who shall get through. Or shall i say, who is the most desperate to win? Just for this 1st round of the finals.. There were at least 8 contestants who threw in like 300bucks for votes?! Haha.. What the.. ?! Most of the 8 contestants with this ridiculous amount of votes, obviously, got through to the next round. But 1 or 2 of this poor souls didn't.. Imagine throwing in 300bucks to go home like me.. Haha. It was funny to see, lighten up my mood for sure.
When the last contestant out of the 15 finished their song. My friends took their time to walk to the voting system to cast their votes for me. But when they reached there, they were told it was close. Haha. Shouldn't they have a longer time frame after the last contestant finished singing so the public can take their time to choose who they want to vote too? I find it kinda unfair for the last few contestants.. I mean you have so so so many many many filler acts to fill in the time to allow more time to cast the last votes.. Why hurry?!
Ok, so my friends didn't get to vote. I still had quite a number of votes from i dono who. But thank you very much if you voted for me.. I'm very thankful my friends didn't get to vote though. Cause it helps to save their money.
The last round is for the Top8 with the best accumulated scores.. I didn't bother watching it. Went to have dinner with friends. Some singing was so mediocre.. No comments. Please say I'm a sore loser... The comments came not just from me but friends and random people who was walking past me.. When the competition was about to end, one mum was fighting with another mum, via voting system.. Looking at each other's voting board to see who's child got the highest votes.. I believe when i last saw it. Few of them had at least 500bucks of votes on each individual one.. Wah Lau eh... Project SuperStar meh.. Such fierce voting.. Please tell me its not desperation to win.. In the end? Both mums didn't win. I heard they got 2nd and 3rd? Hahaha. A 13 years old girl with votes that is almost equal to theirs won.. At least the little girl had a much better vocals than theirs. The strong contenders i felt were a threat to me, of course. Lose out.. Cause of this horrible money milking voting system.. I'm so happy I didn't get through the 1st round. Otherwise my friends will probably just lose more money.. >.<"
Ok. Lesson learnt. Never take part in any more competitions that requires voting.. Talents = lose, Money = win! Unless you say a long term competition like Superstar or Singapore Idol.. You get to garner new fans every week. And it will edge over those stinky rich family contestants who votes just cause they are so rich and their child is in it. Of course, not all rich family are like this.. But sad to say, today, i witness alot of it..
Oh yeah, before i went out this morning. I made this for Sylvia. Our Singapore Idol Top 2 Finalist.

Please vote for her in the finals. She is my friend. And is really a talented singer. Whom i think, can represent Singapore!~ Vote again? Haha.
Cheers and Lotsa Love~

PS: Thanks to all my friends and fans who came down to support. I'm really sorry i didn't manage to do a good performance.. Really big lack of practise for the first song.. If only i had gotten the chance to sing the 2nd song, I could have make it up for you guys.. Thanks for all the votes too. Will make it up when i join a competition that i get to sing songs i like. Or if i had any performance? =]
